Order pharmaceuticals and consumables
Our pharmaceutical and supply management services to regions, municipal units, and private healthcare providers is state-of-the-art, cost-effective, and of high quality. The service is tailored to your needs and to the contents of the signed agreements.
Pharmaceutical and supply management
The service includes receiving orders and delivering pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical-related goods, commercial products, and consumables as needed. The service also includes the management and dispatch of licensed pharmaceuticals. The work is governed by agreed lead times with agreed stop and delivery times with each customer, sometimes as short as the same day. In cases where you, as a contractual customer, do not have your own ordering system for pharmaceuticals, ApoEx’s Care solution is offered.
Home hemodialysis
The home hemodialysis service includes ordering and delivery of medications and, in some cases, consumables for PD (peritoneal dialysis) and home hemodialysis. The orders are placed in ApoEx’s own system, ApoLys.
Assortment and product information
The assortment department supports the daily operations in matters such as consumables, licensed pharmaceuticals, medical devices, backorders, and possible replacements to optimize the service we provide to our customers.
In-patient dose dispensing
In-patient dose dispensing is dispensing of medication for inpatient care or other care where the care provider is responsible for the patient’s medication use. Tablets and capsules are packaged in individual dose bags for each patient and dosing occasion.
Compounding
ApoEx's services for manufacturing and preparation are tailored to the customer's requirements and the content of the signed agreements. Manufacturing takes place in clean rooms according to good manufacturing practices (GMP), which means that the manufacturing is done according to the regulations of the Swedish Medical Products Agency and the Swedish Pharmaceutical Standard (SLS). Our personnel are highly trained, and we set high standards for quality. Both manufacturing and clean rooms are regularly controlled/validated to ensure compliance.
Sterile preparations
The sterile extemporaneous manufacturing service is tailored to the customer’s requirements and the content of the signed agreements. The service involves ApoEx manufacturing vital and personalized medications for patients with special needs who cannot access them in any other way. Both manufacturing and clean rooms are regularly controlled/validated to ensure compliance. ApoEx also prepares medications for clinical trials.
Cytostatic preparations
The cytostatic preparation service is tailored to the customer’s requirements and the content of the signed agreements. The service includes the preparation of infusion solutions and syringes in LAF bench or isolator in a clean room according to good manufacturing practices (GMP). GMP means that the manufacturing is done according to the regulations of the Swedish Medical Products Agency and the Swedish Pharmaceutical Standard (SLS). ApoEx has extensive cytostatic manufacturing at several hospitals around the country. Our personnel are highly trained, and we set high standards for quality. Both manufacturing and clean rooms are regularly controlled/validated to meet current requirements.
Radiopharmaceuticals
The service includes preparing radioactive isotopes in kits or radioactive isotopes drawn up in syringes with patient-specific doses. ApoEx prepares various solutions based on preparation kits where we add isotope solution, mainly Technetium-99m. The design of the preparation kit determines where in the body the isotope will go, and through various radiological examinations, different conditions can be diagnosed and localized. In addition to Technetium-99m, other isotopes such as Fluorine-18, Indium-111, and Iodine-123 are also used.
Standard syringes
Within the framework of our extemporaneous manufacturing, ApoEx offers the service of pre-prepared standard syringes. The service is tailored to the customer’s requirements and the content of the signed agreements.
By ordering pre-prepared standard syringes, healthcare providers can free up nursing time, which can be used for more patient-related work, thus contributing to increased patient safety. By manufacturing in approved clean rooms, we can provide longer shelf life than those obtained from preparation on the ward. Together, we contribute to reduced environmental impact.
Supply services
Our supply services, such as pharmaceutical service, fluid cart service, and medication dispensing machines to regions, municipal units, and private healthcare providers are state-of-the-art, cost-effective, and of high quality. The services are tailored to the customer's requirements and the content of the signed agreements.
Pharmaceutical services
ApoEx’s pharmaceutical service helps healthcare providers reduce their medication costs while increasing the quality of medication management. The service involves ApoEx, in close collaboration with nurses and doctors, taking care of the management of medication stocks for various types of healthcare units within hospital administrations. The result is more efficient medication management and increased patient safety.
Liquid cart services
The liquid cart service involves delivery of infusion and flushing fluids according to an established assortment and volume on established days, or alternatively, on demand. The service is designed in close collaboration with nurses and doctors. The fluids are packed on a cart and transported directly to the respective ward’s medication room. The assortment and frequency of exchange are carried out according to the customer’s wishes. Sustainability control of the assortment in the fluid carts takes place during refilling. For units with exchange carts, a new cart is delivered, and the old one is returned.
Automatic dispensing cabinets
An increasing number of healthcare providers want to make medication management at their healthcare facility safer, more efficient, and secure for their staff. As part of this effort, automatic dispensing cabinets can be installed. These cabinets are filled with a predetermined assortment of medications. We can help you choose automatic dispensing cabinets and provide support during the installation process. Once the cabinets are in place, ApoEx can both refill them and contribute our expertise regarding suitable assortments and refill volumes.

Education
In order to improve medication management for healthcare providers, ApoEx offers instructor-led and digital training courses in various therapeutic areas, as well as ‘safe medication management’ for nurses and other healthcare personnel. The training materials are developed by education leaders with many years of experience and can be tailored to the healthcare provider’s needs and preferences.
Responsible medical gas
ApoEx has experience and expertise in the field of medical gases. Our expert in the field conducts quality reviews of central gas installations and participates in the gas committee.
Quality review (QR)
Quality review of medication management includes a review of documentation and compliance with the requirements set by the National Board of Health and Welfare and other authorities for safe medication management and quality assurance of prescription, preparation, administration, requisition, management of narcotics, and storage of medications.
Safety
Get expert help for increased patient safety and security in medication management
Getting help with medication management has many benefits. We help you ensure regulatory compliance and be better prepared for an external inspection. A completed quality review can also be used as a basis for the annual patient safety report.
The service of Quality Review of Medication Management is based on the regulations and guidelines of the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare on prescribing and handling of medication in healthcare (HSLF-FS 2017:37), which states that units handling medication should undergo an external quality review annually. The goal is to achieve high patient safety and security in medication management, which is achieved through concrete improvement measures identified and communicated during the review.
What is included in the service?
✓ An independent review is carried out by a specially trained pharmacist who, together with you, goes through local routines and working procedures in medication management at the unit.
✓ During the review, you have the opportunity to consult our pharmacist on quality and medication-related issues.
✓ After the review, we send you a compiled report with an action plan and suggestions for improvements.
Quality review of medication management includes reviewing documentation and compliance with the requirements for safe medication management set by Socialstyrelsen (the National Board of Health and Welfare in Sweden) and other regulatory agencies. The review ensures quality assurance in prescribing, preparation, administration, requisition, management of narcotics, and storage of medications.
E-prescription
Already in 2011, we launched our e-prescription service in close dialogue with our customers. Today, the service is used by thousands of prescribers in both public healthcare, animal care, dental care, aesthetic care, and private healthcare. With our e-prescription service, you can securely write your e-prescriptions with an integrated link to your country's pharmaceutical database. Additionally, you have the option to write your prescriptions on both your computer or via mobile for speedy handling.

Clinical Trials
A clinical trial is a systematic study that aims, for example, to discover or verify clinical, pharmacological or pharmacodynamical effects of a medicinal product. The purpose of the trial may also be to identify possible side effects and to study the absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of a medicinal product in order to ensure its safety and efficiency.
Custom solutions
ApoEx performs all steps, including any preparations, that may be relevant in the handling of investigational medicinal products for clinical trials. We customize the service to the customer’s wishes, the need in each clinical trial and to the content of signed agreements. We have a local presence at several of the largest university hospitals and the opportunity to distribute medicinal products to most of the regions in Sweden.

Becoming a customer

Ordering
Can I change or cancel an already placed order?
When you order products via ApoEx, our goal is to deliver them to you as soon as possible. Therefore, we have very short lead times from the time of ordering until your order is ready for delivery. Why is a medicine out of stock?
There are several reasons why a medicine can be out of stock, including manufacturing issues, shortage of active ingredients, or unexpectedly high demand. We actively monitor stock shortages and maintain regular contact with suppliers to, as far as possible, obtain information on when the product is expected to be available again. More information about out of stock medicines can be found on the Swedish Medical Products Agency’s website. There you will also find a current list of ongoing and upcoming stock shortages.
Deliveries
Can I choose a delivery date?
Yes, of course you can. When you are in the final stages of your order, you have the option to choose the delivery date, in addition to choosing the delivery address and method. The available dates are calculated based on the products you have added to your shopping cart, your geographic location, and the delivery method you have chosen.
What are the cutoff times for orders?
If you place an order on a weekday before 1:00 PM and the item you ordered is in stock, delivery can be made as soon as the next business day. However, refrigerated items cannot be delivered on Mondays.
Complaints
How do I make a complaint about a product?
As a customer of ApoEx, you can find more information about returns and complaints in our ordering portal. You can also ask your questions to our customer service at 010-10 10 222.
Invoice
Why have I received a fee invoice from ApoEx?
If you have received an invoice for a fee from a veterinarian, it likely means that you have been in contact with a veterinarian who uses ApoEx e-prescriptions and received a prescription for your animal. For further information about the invoice, please contact your veterinarian.
E-prescription
How does home delivery of medicine work?
If you choose home delivery of medicine to the patient/pet owner directly in the e-prescription, it will be sent as a parcel to the chosen address. Postnord decides if the parcel can be delivered to the mailbox or not. If it turns out that the parcel is too large, it will be delivered to a pick-up point and the patient/pet owner will receive a notification. The invoice for the medicine is included with the product in the package. Any fees are sent as a separate invoice. Once a pharmacy has dispensed a prescription and the product has left the pharmacy, it cannot be returned (medicine is exempt from the right of withdrawal).

ApoEx is founded
We initiate the distribution and e-commerce of pharmaceuticals and consumables. Several customers in, among others, dental care, choose ApoEx as their supplier.

2012
We are growing rapidly
We are growing rapidly. ApoEx’s business is growing, and we are expanding to include animal care. In addition, ApoEx wins the contract for the distribution of drugs for SLL (Region Stockholm), which means that we quickly need to ramp up and expand our warehouse.

2014
Hailed by business press in Sweden
We are expanding our range to include not only medication but also consumables. ApoEx receives a prices as a very successful company by the most prestigious business media in Sweden, Dagens Industri, and we now have more than 100 employees.

2015
Novax enters as new shareholder
Our assortment now includes over 50,000 products. Additionally, Novax becomes a new shareholder in ApoEx and we acquire Vårdnära and ApoVet from Apoteket Hjärtat (ICA group). During the year, our number of employees doubles and we now have 200 employees at ApoEx.

New warehouse in Kalmar
A new warehouse is inaugurated in Kalmar and ApoEx wins the tender for Region Skåne.

2018
Expansion to Norrland
The northern healthcare regions (Norrbotten, Jämtland-Härjedalen, Västerbotten, and Västernorrland) chooses ApoEx as their new supplier for pharmaceutical supply. Pharmaceutical services and Compounding are launched in Stockholm, and ApoEx now has more than 320 employees.

Agreement with 15 of Sweden's 21 regions
With Region Blekinge choosing ApoEx as a supplier, we now have agreements with 15 out of the country’s 21 regions.

2020
Temporary field hospital during COVID-19
We collaborate with Stockholm Region to build a temporary field hospital and pharmaceutical storage facility during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The new cancer clinic, Perituskliniken, in Skåne has chosen ApoEx as the supplier for pharmaceutical supply and pharmaceutical services.

New service for single-dose
A new single-dose service is being launched in collaboration with Region Skåne. Sweden’s pharmacies, including ApoEx, are coming together to develop the a guide for improved transparency and responsibility within the pharmacy industry.

Climate Compensated Transportation
For us, the biggest environmental impact is linked to our transportation. Therefore, we believe it is especially important to actively be able to climate compensate for all our product transports and business trips.
Packaging and Wrapping
An area that is important to us is our choice of packaging and wrapping used for deliveries to our customers. To reduce our footprint, we actively work to find more environmentally friendly alternatives and to only use packaging when it is truly necessary.
Return of Empty Containers
Since the beginning, the majority of our customers have received their goods in ApoEx’s reusable containers. A significant amount of the medicines we provide also require an unbroken cold chain and are delivered with cooling elements that are then returned to us to be cooled down and reused.
Välvald - Pharmacies' guide for increased transparency
As pharmacies, we want to see sustainably produced pharmaceuticals and have therefore jointly developed the labeling “Välvald”. The purpose is to guide our customers towards the pharmaceutical companies that are more transparent about their sustainability efforts.
